- Welfare and Public Assistance -
Neither the State or The Federal
Government have any Constitutional authority to seize the earnings of some
of its citizens and redistribute it to others. This is Socialism
and it promotes dependency and invites fraud.
This applies to personal and corporate redistribution of income.
When the state gives selected businesses a tax break,
it places greater burdens on the existing business, many of which are
the cornerstones of industry in Pennsylvania. This violates the
14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which in part requires equal
protection under the law - meaning that law must apply equally to
everyone.
Subsidies, "Corporate
Welfare" and special breaks for specific companies or industries must be
ended as they are unconstitutional, immoral, and a major cause of political
corruption. Imagine how much new business could be attracted to Pennsylvania
if we could honestly advertise: "Come to Pennsylvania - our business taxes
are low, and we won't subsidize your competition with your tax revenue."
Personal Welfare (public assistance) must be reformed away from a money oriented system.
Whenever money is handed out, fraud and abuse thrives. Instead, when
people are hungry, arrange to get them food. When they need shelter,
help get shelters built, maintained and supervised. Coordinating
charitable organizations, who work directly with the needy, is much more
effective. The indisputable generosity of the American People, especially
when relieved of today's crushing tax burden, has proven historically
to be most effective in helping those who are truly in need.
Here in Pennsylvania, as well as nationally, a huge segment of the
population is systematically dependent on a myriad of public assistance
programs, and we cannot humanely just cease and terminate them
all. Neither can we allow the system to continue to grow
unchecked, unless working people are willing to sacrifice their entire paychecks to
pay for it. We must introduce greater oversight and
accountability into the system, modify it to focus on returning
dependents into the workforce wherever possible, and end the culture
of multi-generational dependency.
