Liberty is not a means to a higher political end. It is itself the highest political end. I'm Ray Ondrusek, and as a Libertarian, I represent the party of Liberty; - the party with the philosophy of the founders of our nation; - the philosophy of Individual Liberty and personal responsibility. As we go through life, we are constantly faced with decisions. Some are minor, others significant - like managing your retirement, choosing your doctor, or starting a family. In each instance, either you make the decision, or that decision is made for you by someone else. In our youth, our parents make many decisions for us, but in adulthood, that someone else is often the government. If you're like me, and have the audacity to believe that we are capable of making better decisions for ourselves than the government, then you are a Libertarian at heart, even if you don't yet vote that way. The legitimate and properly limited role of government - as established by our nation's founding documents - is to defend your Rights, your Liberty, and your property. This is what defines my agenda in the State Legislature: to Eliminate the School District Property Tax and Reform the State Monopoly on Education; to Cut Taxes and Excessive State Spending; to Open the Legislative Process to Public Review; to Defend without compromise your Right to Keep and Bear Arms; to Promote Competition in a Free Market to Ease Escalating Health Care Costs; to Get "Big Money" out of Elections; and End "Corporate Welfare." I've spent 32 years in computer software development solving complex problems, and I'm willing to take my skills to Harrisburg to solve problems for the people of Pennsylvania. Thank you all for attending tonight, and to everyone listening on WLBR, and special thanks to the League of Women Voters, to WGAL-TV-8, and to the Lebanon Daily News for your campaign coverage. This year, Lebanon County voters made their voices heard loud and clear - that the power structure of the incumbency was going to end. It is time to take the next step, and deny both major parties a majority in the Legislature. By electing enough independent candidates so that neither big party has a majority of the seats, they will have to earn the support of independent legislators - people like myself - who cannot be pushed around by leaders of either party. With 7 independent candidates for the state Senate, and including myself, 34 in 32 districts for the state House, the voters have within their grasp the power to end the reign of rule by a single party. On election day, I am asking you to send me to Harrisburg, where I will fight aggressively for a renewed sense of fiscal responsibility and for the limited, constitutional government we want and deserve. I will build a "Liberty Caucus" with other like minded representatives and together, we can constrain government to its constitutional limits. Most importantly, I will work to repair a broken political system, - One that stifles honest, reform-minded legislators. We must eliminate the influx of campaign money from all sources except people who are eligible to vote for the candidate, and stop the outflow of your tax dollars to special interests who divert that money through committees and parties back to the candidates who perpetuate this cycle of corruption. And, we must level the playing field for statewide and congressional candidates, so that you will have real choices - not just for Pennsylvania, but for a nation in desperate need of new leadership. I'm Ray Ondrusek. Thank you and good night. |
